Pizza Girl.October / November 2003. Issue 2. LUIGI RETIREMENT PICTURE SPECIAL.

PIZZA GIRL Number 2 Oct/ Nov 2003. (Thanks to sfor use of pics)

Seven Dials shopkeepers are the best, it’s official. We must have the
most community minded shopkeepers in Brighton. I am reliably informed
that a recent local traders meeting voted totally unanimously almost to create a
stunning xmas lighting display. Set to be the envy of the Town.
Seven Dials will be transformed into a magicai winter wonderland aptly taking the theme of Christmas.
The solar powered lighting is to be designed by the unassuming team behind the King Alfred Pringles tubes and is guaranteed to rival the less fashionable North Laines Conversation Area Xmas lights.
The month long display will also feature an affordable housing element, live work units and a Sainsburys Super Store.

Cultured drinking hole the Compton Arms - this girl’s favourite beverage
house - has a poster in the window listing the host of fabulous events
and functions it can be hired for. Amongst old favourites like hen and
stag nights, the poster lists book clubs. My imagination runs a riot.
What kind of books? If you have ever been to a book club at the Compton Arms
we’d love to hear all about it.

What a girl really really wants list :-
For the “Brown is the new pink” Tin Drum to start doing delicious
organic traditional Sunday roast dinners for less than a tenner. The
Gourmet deli to get a bigger shop, the Brighton Art Gallery to do teas
and coffees and Alldays to become a Co-op....Dream on girl....

The Seven Dials leads the way....So the Clock Tower police patrol has
finally been chopped... we were way ahead, our police patrol at the
Dials roundabout was cut several months ago .

Drug dealing seen this month in Bath Street, Compton Avenue, Dyke
Road, and St Anne's Well Park ( Next to Police Station)t.

Great news if you live in Montpelier Crescent, especially the
lucky few who will back on to the new Fantastic to be at, Amazing to be seen in, Can’t wait for ART BAR.
You will be able to put a gate into your back yard and gain direct access into the
ART BAR drink and nosh yard. This Conran designed ( Bill ) garden will have
bathroom tile mosaic tables and Italian toilet seating. Inside info
to Pizza Girl hints at a to be great menu with a signature dish of
Cypriot style fish and chips called the Plaice to Be. Yummy. The
interior design of the bar has not been finalised but is strongly
tipped to be taking on the theme of a book shop. For those of you not
up to speed on this ‘My other car is a yellow Ferrari” Mr Parker
Bathrooms is planning to open up the old chippy and adjacent shops as a
bar. Sorry to see he got a ticket on his Bentley the other day.

Well done to whoever organised the making of the two large picnic tables
at the top of Vernon Terrace ,shame they had to lop of a hundred foot of
tree to create each of them . They were very, very, old trees so I guess
it's no big deal .

The council have given special dispensation to seven more working class
people to move into the area as part of the new conservation area
gentrification regulations. This dispensation is given on aesthetic
grounds and apparently will not detrimentally affect house prices. Tony
Udden the Dials Personality of the Year (for the third year running )
was probably not available for comment.. ..off windsurfing eh Tone?

Top tip if you are thinking of selling up and moving to the sexy
Saltdean suburbs, you can save thousands of pounds on estate agents’ fees
by simply going out on a sunny Saturday morning. Within minutes you will
spot beautiful couples roaming the streets, noses buried in a local
map, a London to Brighton return ticket in their back pockets and a wad
of agents details in their hands. Offer to sell them your home direct,
A friend of mine did it and sold a balconyflat in Powis Square within eight hours.

Watch out for the new London trend of using estate agent signs for
advertising school events and the like. We saw one advertising a party
outside Austin Greys’ stylish new house in Dyke Road.

Watts chemist was founded in 1910. Is there an older surviving store on
the Dials?

No sooner had I congratulated them on the opening of the Turkish Meze
Bar in Bath Street it closed down.
